Wetland Delineation and Environmental Permitting
The project consists of a one mile extension of NW 122nd Avenue between NW 25th Street and NW 41st Street in order to provide access to a future commercial development on the south side of NW 25th Street in Miami-Dade County. The proposed NW 122nd Avenue will extend through property currently owned by Vulcan Materials and operates as a mining site. The site contains wetland areas and encumbrances associated with stormwater and littoral shelf areas required by the mining operations permits.
Smart-Sciences was hired to review the existing federal, state and local permits associated with the mining operations to determine how the existing permits could be leveraged for the proposed road way project and to provide the project engineer with the wetlands and wildlife information required for new permits. Based on field review it was determined that the corridor contains approximately 1-acre of low quality wetlands. Smart-Smart-Sciences is supporting the project engineer in obtaining or modifying the Individual Environmental Resources Permit from the SFWMD and the USACE and the Miami-Dade County Class IV Wetland permit. Wetland impacts are proposed to be mitigated for off-site at FP&L Everglades Mitigation Bank.
