Florida Bonneted Bat

Florida Bonneted Bat

Smart-Sciences, Inc. is experienced in applying the standards of science in documenting presence and occurrence of the Florida Bonneted Bat (Eumops floridanus, FBB), or establishing a level of confidence in absence, no occurrence, of FBB.  We are experts at determining whether a site may be used by FBBs and if so, how they are using the site (roosting, foraging, flying by, etc.).

The Florida bonneted bat was listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) as β€œin danger of extinction: by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) in 2013.  The State of Florida recognizes this classification and identifies FBB as endangered, F.S. 379.2291 Endangered and Threatened Species Act, with protections administered by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

Our aim is to assist public and private sector projects meet federal and state requirements for surveying for FBB and assisting with the necessary permitting to allow your project to proceed.  If your project is located within the FBB Consultation Area, your project may require a limited roost survey or full acoustical survey for FBB.
