City of Opa-locka Environmental Assessments

for Stormwater, Wastewater and Drinking Water Infrastructure Projects

County: Miami-Dade

Project Description

Smart-Sciences, Inc. conducted the environmental assessments for the Stormwater, Wastewater and Drinking Water System Planning Reports being prepared by project engineers for the City of Opa-locka, funded by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund Program. For each of these projects Smart-Sciences utilized Geographic Information System data and field visits to evaluate the flora, fauna, listed wildlife species, wetlands, surface water bodies, vegetated uplands and undisturbed areas throughout the City. We also identified potentially contaminated sites throughout the City. This information was used to evaluate if the project would have any adverse effects to natural habitats or human health. We also identified the environmental benefits that would result from the improvements to the stormwater, drinking water and wastewater systems.
